Elephants are big animals.

They have thick skin. This skin protects them. 

Some elephants are very tall. The tallest can be 13 feet high! 

Elephants live together. They live in groups called herds. 

A baby elephant is called a calf. Calves stay close to their mothers. 

Elephants eat plants. They eat leaves, fruit, and bark. 

Elephants are gentle. They care for each other in the herd. 

Elephants can live a long time. Some live to be 70 years old! 

That's a lot of years for an elephant!
