Turtles can’t fly. They walk slowly on land. This helps them carry their homes on their backs. 

Turtles grow hard shells. These keep them safe. These help them live both on land and in water. 

Some turtles are very large. The biggest can weigh as much as a car! Other turtles are small. The smallest can fit in your hand. 

Turtles live in different places. Some live in the ocean, others in lakes or on land. They can live for a very long time!
